They say Ignorance is bliss.
And it is. To be oblivious, to be in a state of trance, to be in a dream, is a happy, blissful feeling. Even if the dream turns into a nightmare, it is somehow still preferred. Even if there is misery around you and in your life, your ignorance plays it’s part so that you are not aware of that misery.
The problem with waking up and being aware is this: The reality is not as blissful, it is harsh, as another saying goes:
Truth is Bitter.
The person who is woken up, or startled so that he wakes up, or is made aware, is not happy. He curses the person who woke him up from a beautiful dream.
Let’s say it’s 5 am and you are in your sweet dreams, and your mom wakes you up. How does it feel to come out of sleep at that time? I’m not sure if you would just jump and kiss your mom for waking you up! Or am I wrong?
Hence the problem. hence the dilemma.
True freedom is not really known, and people do not like anything that they don’t know. It feels like an abyss. If feels like groping in the dark.
Fear of the unknown is the biggest fear. Man, as a machine, is programmed to be in a state of ignorance. We have the potential to be free, but are born and kept in chains, all of us.
True freedom, is the peak, like Mount Everest. Not really everyone’s cup of tea.
As another saying goes:
The Truth shall set you free.
