coffee

mmmm…. wow! What a drink! what a discovery! what an aroma…what is this thing? this strange God-bean?

Say hello to the coffee bean! (applause!)

The mighty bean handed over by God to mankind….this should qualify as the most popular non-alcoholic stimulant in the world. (and what is the other one? Beer?)

What cannot be done with this bean and the caffeine it has? It’s used in any commercial soft/energy drink you can think of.  It has the same addiction as sex….it goes pretty well with chocolate…..can be had with water, milk, and hot, and cold…

Various industries, and countries survive on this humble bean. it is truly a gift from God.

What would you do without coffee? No Starbucks?  No latte in your hand, It is not a cup of latte…… it is your therapy, your escape, your meditation, in this big bad noisy world, having a cup of hot coffee is your yoga, your small getaway, your 5 minute vacation….your one sip at a time hot break….

Bow to the coffee bean, it is an addiction whose health benefits and/or health problems are in the news every six months or so, coffee is bad for ________, coffee is good for ________, drinking coffee makes you__________, and so on!

Yes, again…what will you do without coffee? Coke will not give you that kick it does! It will become sugar water like Pepsi! Pepsi is selling sugar-water, people are drinking them….it has little caffeine, they don’t mind, pepsi sells, still….wonder why.

Starbucks has an outlet everywhere in the US….they recently shut down their outlets across the nation for a couple of hours, just to give a drug break to the addicted Americans, make all of them tremble, sweat and long again for something they just have to have all the time….they want to just sip coffee…sip their lattes, their cappuccinos, their black syrups of hot water-bean combination….

The aroma does have an effect, yes I know.  In CP, New Delhi, there is a place, Depauls coffee, serving vanilla flavored hot and cold variants…and doing unrivaled business every minute, for the past 50 years.  And it’s a very democratic place, the hot coffee is for 10 bucks(25 cents), the richest of the rich and the poorest of the poor, all stop there to get their fix!  The taste buds are rejuvenated! They rejoice, want more! The addiction begins, it’s like a temple, you just have to go there, sometimes just for going there people travel for miles….the vanilla flavored coffee is just too good.  It is a drug, and they know it.

This drug is like sex/porn, like just about any illegal drug, once you are baited, you have to have more.  In a coffee chain, a copycat of Starbucks, in my country, the Baristas have tee shirt slogans saying boldly “more coffee?”.  They are promoting the drug, obviously, more coffee is so acceptable, more water is not…..drinking more water will actually hydrate you, make you feel better, lighter, and cleaner, but no, the dehydrating, dangerously milky, frothy creamy chocolaty coffee is what you should order, and keep on ordering more…yes drink it, have more coffee, please.

Whoever thought this would be the state, that coffee will be the mass addiction across the world…… it is still so damn cool to have coffee, it is like doing nothing, but doing something…and it can be had anytime…coffee drinking has not gone out of fashion after all these years.

Coffee is so related to sex! When a girl invites you to her house for coffee, it is assumed she wants something else too….I think it’s because the word “coffee” sounds so sexy!  It’s a cool word to speak, a smart word ….anyways, what I mean is: the girl will not say ‘TEA’, that is so uncool! so downmarket, tea houses are like poorhouses!  Tea is something your mother would make for you in the morning, coffee is something you will like to have with your girl…..

In India, people drink a lot of both tea and coffee.  But then tea is something husbands and wives have in the morning and evening, with biscuits and stuff…not coffee!  Coffee is something you would love to go out for, have with friends, to chat over…coffee and conversations, what a combination.  Like that slogan: A lot can happen over coffee.
